Government of India has established a committee led by Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya for restoration of urea plants and progress of a gas pipeline entailing investment of INR 23,000 crore. India's annual requirement of urea is 30 million tonnes, while the domestic production is static at 22 million tonnes, the remaining is met through imports.
